Help New calling interface?

I got my Android HTC Desire last year (2.1); about half a year ago it updated to 2.2.

Maybe about 3 days ago, I suddenly got a different interface when making or receiving a call. I get a block of 4 icons (2x2), on the left side, that now has an "add phone" & "hold" icons (which I've never seen before), in addition to the mute & speaker. The red "End Call" button is now smaller and all the way over to the left.

I've checked the "about", it's still 2.2. Did someone roll out a new update? Did I unknowingly set some different option?

I don't mind, but I'm confused. If it's android, I kind of wish they would fix the calender & gmail syncing problems that I have and apparently many others do as well, before fiddling with things that do work.

sounds like a custom app that has been set as default

that sounds similar to the stock android interface that comes up say if you have widget locker on and it disabling the sense interface..
