Hey everyone, I've been racking my brain and searching this forum for some help with my issue.

A few days ago my camera stopped working. After a bit of fussing with it I thought I would try a factory reset. After resetting the camera was still not working, so I thought "well maybe flashing a new ROM would help" When I tried to go into recovery it would not, it would just freeze up on the White HTC EVO 4G screen. I loaded a new recovery (ClockworkMod v2.5.0.1) and I am now able to launch recovery however my phone will not boot and when trying to install a new ROM via recovery I get this error:

Assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:Error in/scdarc/nitrous_ROM_v1.4.7_signed_raafaell.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also let me know what other info I can add. I'm somewhat new and still learning.

thanks!

Greetings and welcome to AF.:)
Are you wiping all except sd prior to flashing rom? I would wipe 3 times, then flash.
What is your flashing procedure?
Clockwork is buggy when it comes to wiping but we can change that later.
Are you s-off?
Perhaps you have a bad download but not sure.
Here is the current Nitrous rom if your desire.
Sorry for numerous questions but the more info the better.!:D

Thanks for the reply, and for the questions, I agree the more info the better.

I am wiping everything 3x except sd prior to flashing rom. To flash I am going into recovery and selecting install zip from sd card (or something to that effect :))

I am s-on

I'll try the new Nitros ROM that you linked to...thank you!

Let us know how it goes!

Ok, tried that and it didn't work, same error. I tried another ROM and I'm getting the same error....any other thoughts?

hmmm...the same error eh?

Wierd....probably different rom name vs. nitrous rom v1.4.7 in that error?
Sorry about my late reply as I am at work.
I'm beginning to wonder if clockwork is not performing as it should.
Being s-on as you are, I'll find the correct PC36IMG.zip file for Amon Ra recovery for you and try that recovery.

Edit...see this
Click on "show" under HTCdev method, then click on "show" under "how to get recovery" and based on your software version, use the PC36IMG method.
I am also assuming your bootloader is unlocked due to the fact you got clockwork installed

Thank you, I will try this. Any idea how to get files onto my SD card with my phone acting the way it is? Is there a way to get it into Disk Drive mode while being in recovery?

Yes, there should be an option to mount phone as disk drive...the option might be something like usbms toggle (AmonRa) but clockwork should have some option like that.
I usually download rom to computer, then transfer to sd card either via recovery, or the normal way. (plug phone in and select the option to mount as disk drive).

no need to do disk drive as the recovery will mount it automatically. there is a usb storage function in cwm. i'm not sure where it is located as i do not use cwm as it is way too buggy for me.

what size card do you have?

Ok, I thought I was making progress.....I got the ROM loaded without error...yeah! Now when I go to reboot it brings me straight to Fastboot

ok lets try and switch to a more reliable recovery and see if that will help flashing a recovery. go here for instructions http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. just skip the rooting part and go to the switching recoveries section. it will show you how to get amon ra 2.3 to the phone. after that we can then try and wipe everything but the sd card (maybe do it 3x to be safe) and re-flash the rom.

I thought he did that in post 9 but perhaps not, he didnt say. :)

I thought I did it as instructed, but maybe I did something wrong, so I went back and reloaded the PC36IMG, Wiped 3x, and reflashed the ROM. I am still being brought straight to the Fastboot menu when rebooting.

thank you both so much for your help thus far.

and the saga continues, i'm no longer booting to fastboot, however the phone is now on an endless cycle of getting to the HTC EVO 4G white screen then rebooting....

ok well that sucks. so you can't get into recovery at all?

and just an fyi you need to wipe more then just that. you need to wipe at least dalvik cache, cache, sd-ext, system, and data factory reset
