The new market can find and recomend updates for the apps that I have renamed using root explorer. I checked in root explorer to make sure that the kndle app was still named .bak and it is, so i renamed it .apk did the update renamed it .bak again, rebooted the phone and now it is back in my app drawer and and runs even though it is named .bak. Is there any way short of removing the app to get it hidden again?

WHAT?! That sounds crazy. I don't have the new market but I fail to see how it could possibly do what you're saying. Wow. Anyway, one suggestion might be to ensure that you have first uninstalled any updates that you have for Kindle and THEN rename the kindle apks to bak to see if it fixes the issue.

The market updated on my phone this morning... I ended up finding the solution was to rename the app back to apk and uninstall the updates from the market and then clear the apps data from the phone and rename it back to .bak and it is hidden again.
