New on android looking for app help

We can't really help with stuff like that.

Google Play has a tonne of free apps and the most of the expensive ones are no more than £5 (which isn't really that much when you consider what you're getting AND it's supporting the dev who made it).

The Amazon app store do pretty good deals on a regular basis and give away a free app of varying quality every day.

Is there any sort of app you're looking for in particular?

One other legit source of free apps is f-droid.org, which boasts a hefty repository of free and open-source Android applications. That won't help you if you're looking to get paid apps for free (that's piracy, and a taboo subject here), but you can find a bunch of specialty apps there.

Those 1000000 or so sites that come up when you Google "free Android apps"? Stay away. A healthy majority of those sites are going to be riddled with malware. And if someone has gone through the effort of cracking a paid app so that you can have it for free, what's to stop them from adding a few extra bits of code so that it steals your contact list or account credentials? After all, that cracker's got to pay his bills somehow!

Piracy and morality aside, installing apps from unverified sources is a Bad Idea. Stick to the known good app sources and you'll be golden. :thumbsupdroid:
