Anyone know anything about this or what it includes?

Edit: forgot to add, I'm on o2 UK.

Sorry - new to these forums. Hope I've altered the thread title correctly.

As it happens I've just looked at my software info on my O2 UK Desire, as I was sure that I was running Android Version 2.2.

I am, and I am also running "Software number" 2.14.207.1, so I assume this OTA System update is an update to that rather than the Android Version?

What's the difference between these two?

And what are the Baseband version and the Kernel version?

    I'm a bit of a confused noob!

Yes, it will be Android 2.2. That "Software Number" identifies exactly which Android+HTC Sense combination, so it will denote this specific O2 ROM. An OTA update can update the android version, but if it has it'll be a minor revision (i.e. not 2.3).

Baseband is the radio firmware version, i.e. the software which controls the hardware for cellular connections, mobile data, WiFi, bluetooth, GPS.

Kernel is the "core" of the OS - sits between the hardware and the applications.

Any and all of these can be updated separately, so an update may or may not have changed them.

I don't get it ??? I'm on O2 but my software version is already alot higher than that.....2.29.405.5

**Edit** My phone is unbranded though, so I presume that the update is for O2 branded HTC Desires ?

I updated last night. The only noticeable differences is that in the 'Market'; instead of the green border being stationary when scrolling, it is now moved along with the menu. If i see any newer features, I'll let you know.

Blimey, how many software versions are there??? :D

I got my Desire sim free - unbranded - and it's running 2.29.405.5

I presume branded phones are slower in getting updates (due to the network having their wicked way first...

    :D
