New phone, old brain!

Hi,
I'm Vicki and I'm from Iowa. I have a brand new smart phone and an old, sludgy brain I was searching for the best weather app and was led to this site. I'm anxious to begin using my new phone (slowly picking my way through some of it's functions) and am looking for advise from seasoned users. I don't mind paying a bit for apps that will be beneficial and would rather do that than watch a bunch of inconsequential ads and banners. Hoping to find a lot of useful advise here. Thanks for letting me into your awesome society.
