    First. Simmer down.

What exactly did you do? EXACTLY. In steps. Include what you started from and what you flashed.

OK, I reloaded the recovery file with Odin and have my phone back. Now I would like to flash blackhole..but a little afraid.

Yeah, I'd leave your phone alone to recover for a while :) You can take the opportunity to do more reading.

new blackhole is a froyo rom...you will need a newer recovery and kernel in addition to the rom

I may never figure this out. The root part was easy. I thought the ROM had the Kernals in it. I also figured Recovery was recovery. Owe well. Off to read some more.

early 2.2 roms included kernels...but since voodoo was added as an option the kernels were divorced from the roms to avoid confusion mostly.

and jt made updated recoveries for froyo as the mount points for eclair and froyo are different and caused numerous headaches for many of us

OK. I'm now getting an error msg that the sdcard won't mount. Can't do much it appears without the sd card. I was looking at jt's superclean and voodoo. not sure which order to install once I get the card to mount.
