    Hi guys,

The lovely guys at Virgin Mobile just offered me an early upgrade from the HTC Desire to a Samsung S2 & its a fiver a month cheaper on the same tariff, personally had very few problems with Virgin (Customer service isnt the best but are any of the phone providers any good, i have tried most of them:))

Anyway back to the topic, any tips to help me get started on the new phone, got loads of apps on my HTC which i will carry over

    Any tips/ideas much appreciated

    Cheers
    Chris

Sure. First thing is root it. You will get much better battery life and control of your phone.

Also try the app 2xbattery. Makes a big difference to battery life.

Get yourself a good screen protector. There's nothing worse than having a nasty scratch on your screen for the life of your phone.

Do not be in a hurry to root your phone. An un-rooted phone is still mighty handy. Use it for a while and then if you want do it then. My battery lasts all day and then some without rooting.

If you do not have a Google account, set one up now, start entring your contacts and schedules so that when you get you phone, you sign into your Google account and it will update you phone and you are ready to go!

I don't root either. And to tell the truth, I find SGS2 is great even without rooting. Not like IPhone where its ability is sort of restricted without jailbreaking.

    Cheers

As above don't rush to root your phone. Firmware updates?, yea sure.

Get to know the phone and it's features/functions. Once your up to scratch you can adjust a whole load of things and taylor the phone to the way you use it.

Yup...you're getting a great device...use it, get to know it, let it get to know you...then you can decide if rooting is required..cheers
