So I want to move everything from my current 16gb sd card to my new 32gb sd card.

Is it as simple as copying all content from one to the other?
Can this be done with the phone on and connected to the computer?

    Thanks

You'll need a computer, as the phone only holds one card and does not have enough internal memory. Put the 16GB card in the SD-card slot with an adapter, and hook up your Phone's 32GB card via USB cable, mount, then copy. It'll take AWHILE :)

You can just drag everything on your 16GB card onto your desktop (a folder will probably be best), then drag it onto your new card once installed.

    Voila!

Yeah, took about 2 hours for me. Now I have about 16 GB space left on my new card. Geez. I sure am glad I got that new card. I was completely out of room and at a loss as to what I could do without.

    In the forum dog house.
I have an SD slot in my laptop, and the 32GB mini came with a rather cute little USB reader. I out both into the laptop and transferred. Like stated, it took about 2 hours, and I accidentally brushed the back of my hand against the 32GB card reader while about half way done, and it does run HOT!
It's for this reason I suggest doing it externally instead of while inside the phone. Of course the phone can handle short bursts of such heat, but I figure why go two hours if you can avoid it?

    Thanks everyone.
I've copied everything, only took an hour or so.
Move 32GB card over and turned on phone. Everything looks good.
Go to music and now have to wait until the system rescans my SD card for Music. This is taking forever.
Good news is I went from 6% free to 53% free on my SD card :)

I expected that as you are moving a whole bunch of data over USB.
What I wasn't prepared for was that after putting in the new SD card my droid then spend upwards of another hour scanning the sd card for songs. 100% CPU and full speed. Talk about a hot phone when it was done :)

    Wow talk about weird.
After scanning my sd card for songs completed all my assigned ring tones, alerts et al have changed. It appears that when you assign a custom sound to something it does not store the song's name but some index number and when you put a new sd card in those index numbers get re-assigned.
My wife's ring tone when from a emergency siring to a meat cleaver chopping, my fathers went from "The good the bad and the ugly" to a rooster call.
Fun and weird at the same time

Did anyone else upgrading you sd card experience some thing similar?

Available other places. Just Verizon had a funky discount depending on location that meant you could get it for cheep.
