The Notification bar across the top tells me I have new unread text messages- but they have all been read (actually I already deleted all messages) already via messaging app. I cannot seem to figure out how to get this notification to go away. Any ideas? Thanks

Turning off the phone did not help.

Removing the battery did fix the issue.

Hope it just does not happen again.

Did you try hitting "clear" on the notification bar?

Notifications don't automatically disappear after you have read whatever the notification is for. You need to pull down the notification bar and click "Clear" in order to remove the notifications.
