any sites do benchmarks yet?
Just installed, seems exactly the same as the beta I installed a few weeks back.
Same USB Storage error, same annoying software update notification thats not easy to get rid off.
Oh well, that's another 15 minutes of my life wasted.
I've noticed a few bugs since I updated earlier today...
Sometimes when typing in the pin code on the unlock screen some of the dots disappear.
My phone froze for about 10 seconds before I got control back. But I think this is to do with ADW Launcher EX not liking ICS.
And the slide right to call seems to take ages to register, if at all.
Apart from the above, it's soooo slick.
I'll live with this until the UK firmware comes available on ODIN...
Got the official ICS tonight via odin. I like it! It's super quick & quite different to GB. I can't seem to get the voice controls to work though. anyone having the same issue?
take it it aint out in the uk offical yet then? kies says i still have the latest
Where'd you source the download from?
Was able to update this morning via Kies. I have an unlocked/unbranded GS II being used on at&t.
Just a FYI.... if you had to flash with Odin then it isn't "official" for your handset/locale/network. The whole point of this topic is to track the rollout via Kies or OTA.
kies still sayin i have the latest hmm hopefully get it soon
The GS2 is my first "Smart" phone and I'm not that much of gadget geek so I'd just like to know where I'll be able to get the up date from. Will it be sent automatically by my phone provider (o2) or from Samsung or will I need to download it independently from another site?
The usual update procedure is to install Samsung's Kies software suite on your PC and, with the handset connected via USB, use that to check for and install available updates.
I've used this site in the past for updates...
Samsung Galaxy S II Android ICS 4.0.3 Countries Release Status Page [Continuous Updating] | Josephws'sBlog | YouMobile
shows that for unlocked handsets its in "Test Mode". It's been accurate in the past.
still no update for me ....
Apologies if I answer my own question here, but have only just realised the significance (I think) of how I acquired my phone. It was bought on Ebay, SIM free, in October, brand new, with the statement that it could be sourced from anywhere. It came with a Euro power adapter, so was never a UK model. I believe it is a German model, as my firmware is PDA:KI4 / PHONE:KI1 / CSC:KH1 (DBT).
I am coming to the conclusion that this means that I will not receive an update when the UK ICS rolls out next week. Is that correct? If so, I think I will be looking to Odin...
No, as the updates are all hosted (afaik) on Samsung's own servers. Kies compares the device ID with Samsung's database and should serve up the relevant update regardless of location or current network.
Wait until there's confirmation of the update rolling out to German stock handsets, which I think DBT indicates. It's definitely a valid CSC code but doesn't apply to any network I can find, and at least one German forum post referred to it as "unlocked". The danger of using Odin and a non-official firmware is that, should anything go wrong, Samsung may well not honour the warranty.
DBT is definitely Germany (I think it was Slug who confirmed this).
I've been on several German forums today looking for info (including android-hilfe.de) and April 1st seems to be the rollout date across our networks.
I don't know if this is the same announcement some of you are talking about or not. Samsung e-mailed this to me.
I have a question please. Can anybody tell me what the biggest advantage to 4.0 is?
I mean, this phone already does everything I can think of to ask it to do very fast and flawlessly.
And it just seems like ICS has many bugs to work out (according to most Nexus owners).
And the apps. Most of the apps in the market aren't set up for ICS.
Is it fair to say that the people most waiting for this upgrade are mostly techies that can really take advantage of some new features that ICS has? From what I've read, it only adds a few new functions, nothing I need, I don't think.
Obviously I'm no techie, quite the opposite. So maybe there's one obvious reason to update as soon as we can that I don't understand?
I'm sure more and more programs will need ICS to function as time goes by.
Maybe I'm just afraid I'll mess my phone up some how if I try to update it.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on like this. If anybody has a few minutes to comment on this for me, I'de really appreciate it.
No update for Romania yet,i'm on Cosmote but my phone is unbranded.
Hope to get it soon,regards.
1 more day!!! DDDDDDD
Sweden got it last thursday. The camera of my galaxy s2 became very slow. It takes 3-4 seconds for it to focus and take a picture And btw, how can the issue with the lock screen stretching background pictures not have been fixed. Doesn't feel like quality.
I thought of making a list of countries where ICS has been OFFICIALLY released. Post your country, carrier and if you've recieved the update OTA or via Kies.
Here is my latest firmware, updated by KIES Mar-19-2012 (Cambodia)
Here my latest firmware, updated by KIES
I just installed as, as an official release, via Kies here in Luxembourg.
Let's see if it lives up to the hype!
ThreeUK have just Tweeted that ICS for the Galaxy S2 is ready to be installed via Kies.
