New to Android -- getting "emulator disconnected" error.

Hello All. This is my first post in what I believe will be a valuable forum for me moving forward.

I am very, very new to the Android world. I'm trying to enhance my skillset.

Ok, I downloaded the Android SDK, and I tied it into Eclipse and began following the tutorial here:

Hello, World | Android Developers

However, when I get down to the "Run the Application" part, I always get the "emulator disconnected" message.

As I said, I'm very new to Android.

Does anyone have a solution to this? It would be very appreciated. I'm rather frustrated at this point, as the "Hello World" (in the tutorial "Hello Android") app is not working.
