    Hey guys,

I just got my HTC Hero and i must say I Love it! :D
Have seen around on net about this Android 2.0 update.
Since im new i dont know how/where to find this update.
Can anyone help me with this?

Before i bought this phone i had a iPhone so im actualy a bit in to this firmware updates...

    I found this guide Guide.
But i need no know what i should do if my phone crashes and i fail to update.
Like on iPhone forums i always had problem fixes and how to downgrade back to old firmware if the new one did not work.
How is it with this HTC Hero?

In other words, I need guides.

    Is the official update released?
Why update to custom instead of official?

    Here are my current specs:
    Firmware version: 1.5
    Baseband version:
    Kernel version: 2.6.27-a5504199 htc-kernel@and18-2 #521
    Build number: 1.76.405.6 146733 CL#47214 release-keys
    Software version: 1.0.0.A6288

I listed everything because I dunno what version i have and which of these tells the version...

Hey, hope you like your new phone!!

Apparently HTC are working on the 2.0 update for us with a Hero, its not out yet, but I'm hoping it will be out for us pretty soon, at least before the end of the year.

So right now no official 2.0 update, ut it is coming soon.

Regarding the modaco custom rom, some people say it is faster than the standard rom. I myself only use the official updates. There can be problems with installing custom roms (also known as rooting), because you are hacking the phone to give yourself full control over the operating system therefore you can cause some fatal damage, however there are a few good guides on how to do this so I think its quite rare you will do something bad to your phone if you follow them correctly.

The only advice i can give is read about rooting your phone, what it brings to you and if you really need that. Just make sure you know what you are doing before you start.

Ok, bring on the next post by someone who has rooted their phone and how much better it is!! :p
