Root New to Rooting and have some questions??

Ok I just got a My Touch 4G coming from an iPhone 4. I was very familiarwith jailbreaking but have never had an android phone before. One jailbreak (root) app inparticular I was looking for was MY Wi or similar. This lets you turn you phone into a mobile hotspot. Are apps like this available when you root your phone. Is there a cydia like marketplace for apps outside of the android market. Thanks.

The mytouch 4 g already has pre installed hot spot app. Its in the drawer at the bottom in blue next to wifi calling
