Root New To This & Having BIG Problems...

Hey there guys and gals! Thanks for taking your time to read this!

So I've owned my LG Esteem (ZVD) since Valentines Day 2012. A bit late in the game to buy one, but I thought it was the best buy for my buck at the time. Since then I have successfully Rooted the phone, but I REALLY don't know WHAT I'm doing at all. I created a portion on my Applications file called "Customization" and I currently have these in that portion.

-Application Manager (stock)
-Astro (stock)
-Downloads (stock)
-Advanced Task Manager (Market DL)
-Root Checker (Market DL)
-Rom Toolbox PRO (version 5.2.3) (Market DL)
-Rom Manager Premium (v5.0.1.3) (Market DL) (ClockworkMOD Recovery v5.0.2.8)
-Speed Test (Market DL)

I've dabbled with ALL of the above and have NO understanding as to what the VAST majority of the contents of these programs do to the phone. I read the info on them and still don't understand some of them. I simply just want a smooth running phone, that has no problems running. I figured that this was my solution.

Also, I own a 32GB SD Card, and I thought that would solve all my problems, simply by moving everything over to the SD card, but it didn't. I have run diagnostics and even downloaded a full program to ensure Authenticity of the 32GB SD Card. I have formatted, and Re-Formatted the card about 5-7 different times (loosing half my phone by doing so) and it still states that I only have 4GB on my SD Card according to my phone phone (3/4 of which is ALWAYS being used). To my understanding that is what the phone comes stock with for internal memory, is 4GB? All of this is causing my phone to run extremely slow to the point that even being able to try to dial 911 would be a 10 min process. Not a very useful phone if you ask me...

I thought that I was somewhat tech savvy until I started doing all of this, now I feel like I belong in elementary school again with my sons, lol! I'm on the verge of just backing up my phone to my comp, and factory resetting the phone, and starting from scratch. I don't want to do that because it will no solve my SD Card issue anyways. If somebody could take the time out to teach me what these programs do, and answer my questions, that would be great!

I would recommend installing #2 rom. Assuming you don't have it yet it'll remove all bloatware and make your phone run alot smoother. Just make a backup before you flash the rom.

wow u looking good so far but that sd card needs to come down some lets say a class 10 16 gigs sound the best then you need to read the root section in the all things root ..http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/460450-lg-esteem-all-things-root-guide.html.

actually the maximum card size for our phone is 32gigs...but you should download one of the roms from here, most of them remove all the bloat ware. also go to your browser or browsers (I have three lol) and have it set to save your downloads to your external sd. that should save you some internal space. I also tried moving all my stuff to my external 16gig sd card using Root Explorer a while back, but decided to start fresh and became extremely smart when it comes to saving internal space lol.

So okay, the best idea would be to flash a ROM to the phone, and basically start over? Also downgrade to a 16GB Card?

First of all what type of probs are you having with your phone as of now? sometimes the answer to your probs are alot more simpler than erasing and starting all over.

Like I mentioned in my original blurb up there at the top, the phone runs choppy, I have a hard time making phone calls, programs take for ever to load up... that kind of stuff. I want a smooth running phone, that is quick to touch response.

downgrade to a 16gb sd card? what the...... lets see here wheres the nice button oh ok, thats bogus downgrading to a smaller sd card does not help performance dunno where people get their info from ....epic anyways i was going to ask what types of apps you have running in the background, also some launchers demand more process and memory than others.

I wish I knew what I had going on in the background, I'm about ready to just format the the internal memory, after moving all my apps to my card...

lol you were supposed to have looked at what was running and then decide if u need those programs and if not uninstall them,2nd thing i would of done was delete program cache this is just like tuning up your pc you uninstall old stuff and delete what u dont need.

what launcher are you using some launchers are just process hoggers for example tsf and spb are process eating launchers that do more bad to your phone than good.
