New to touchscreen phones and htc so trying to get used to them both. Would like a better alarm and a notification for texts. What are good apps as their is so much choice and i have no idea where to start or what to choose. :-(

from within the text app, hit MENU and choose your own notification settings. Same goes for alarm, you can choose your ringtone.

home screen --> menu --> settings --> sound & display will allow you to set alarm volumes.

Welcome to the Android Forums! Download the apps tone picker and ringdroid from the market. Ringdroid allows you to make ringtones from any music on your phone, tone picker allows you to use them. :) hope this helps.

Can't you just go to the music app, long-press on the song and choose "set as ringtone?"

    That's what I did.

You can, but not to set it as an alarm or notification. Tone picker will allow you to also use music for those as well.
