Hi All,

So I'm sure quite a few of you have heard of the new Terms of Service of Instagram. It seems that with that, Instagram can take your details and pictures and use them in an ad and whatnot...

So I'm just curious, are any of you thinking of deleting your account because of this? I am contemplating whether I should delete mine or not as I definitely don't want my pictures/details in some random ad for everyone to see

First I've heard, thank you.

Yeah, it looks like I'll be deleting my account (although I'm tired and that's my initial reaction, that may change when I've had a bit longer to reread/digest what the changes are). I don't really publish stuff, I only use it for adding filters and editing pics, but there are plenty of other apps that do the same thing.

From what I've heard, they aren't *changing* things so much as *clarifying* it, and bringing it more inline with what Facebook's existing policy is.

This was the most over-hyped internet news of the day. Seriously, the new TOS are actually MORE protective than the old ones, they just speak more clearly towards the issues of advertising revenue for Instagram. IG is not being turned into "iStockPhoto.com" as some people are claiming. It simple allows outside companies to pay for the rights to post pictures saying "check out this photo of our product from instagram." They don't get to edit or manipulate the photos or turn them into billboards or greeting cards.

After reading the article Zebulon and Athegn posted, I guess actually it's not that bad :) They always had those rights in the first place.
Thanks guys

Still thinking about it though

That's what Instagram says:

For security reasons, we cannot delete an account on behalf of a user. You must have access to the account in order to delete it from our Account Removal page:
https://instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/
When you delete your account, your photos, comments, likes, and friendships (everything) will be removed permanently and will not be recoverable. We cannot reactivate accounts. Additionally, you will not be able to sign up with the same username again.
