Help New update forcing 4G

My SPH-D710 kept hounding me about some stupid update. Finally on the 100th nag, I gave in and updated. When it restarted, it told me that the firmware was updated to improve connections. Now my phone keeps going into 4G on it's own. I turn off 4G and it turns itself back on. When I turn it off I am left with no connection until Enter and exit airplane mode. My wifi sucks now too. Anyone else having this problem and if so, does anyone have a fix??

This has come up a lot around here recently, the search function works real well. Maybe a Mod can make it a sticky or something to save people the trouble? Anyway, this is what you want -- Menu>settings>under wireless and networks choose "more">mobile networks>connections optimizer>uncheck the box.
