New version of Google Maps ?

3.2.1 in the market. and my phone says it is running 3.2.0

Anyone tried this?

I downloaded it, it replaces the older version, i don't know what it updated, but i did do it. I'm waiting to see if anyone knows what was updated.

Go to MARKET, APPS, MAPS, and look for google maps (update) and install.

Places of interest: Selectable icons and labels on the map allow you to choose prominent businesses or places of interest in order to see business info, reviews, photos, Wikipedia articles, and a lot of other local information. Not seeing this on my Droid - businesses are highlighted and can long-press for address, and options to nav to, etc., but ono reviews, photos, wikipedia, etc.

Favorite Places (English only): Explore the favorite places of local experts from cities around the world. Find out where they like to go, and why, from their own perspectives. From the Maps main menu, go to 'Layers' > 'More Layers' > 'Favorite places.' You can also see these on your computer by going to Google Maps: Favorite Places.

Not showing up on my Droid after the update...no "Favorite Places" option in the Layers section.

Anyone seeing these on their Droid? Wondering if this is WinMo only features given the lead in:

i downloaded this but im starting to think this version wasnt meant for droid users... especially since it was supposed to add navigation or something to android 1.6.

also, i saw in atrackdog once that there was a version 4.0 but cant find it anywhere.... anyone else see that?

I got it. Took me from. 3.2.0 to 3.2.1. No difference. Like downloading the latest VVM, you only have the option to uninstall the updates, not the whole shebang.

Anyway, probabaly no big benefit in the upgrade, but there's certainly no reason to avoid it.

I havn't updated the application, but when I first got the phone, Google Maps did not show my house (just a dirt lot, as I live in a newer home), but as of about two or three days ago, my housing development shows up on the app.

Do you think that apps that came pre-installed on the Droid will be updated with OS updates? I am reluctant to upgrade a pre-installed program until I know more

yes, but i think this might be because the update is for symbian and winmo. i could not find any other changelog that refer to android. and it seems as though the above posters that installed the update on droid don't see any difference, further indicating that this update may not apply to us.

My thoughts exactly. When the Google folks tell me there's a compatible update to a newer version (3.2.0 to 3.2.1), I bite--whether the difference is perceptible or not.

It's just good housekeeping... especially when the dev is capable & trusted.

Doesn't have to be illegal for them not to like it. They told cyanogen to c&d, plenty of people are still running his rom with the apk they forbade him from distributing with it.

3 different things. First too are not illegal and apparenetly google couldn't care less about them. The last one IS illegal and from what I understand that was the beef that google had/has with cyanogen.

I'm currently running Google Maps 3.2.1 but atrackdog is listing Google Maps 4.0.0 as the latest version. Clicking on it brings up the 'new version' dialog box I'm not able to update the program. Anyone else having this problem?
