Newbie after some help

Hi All,

Only had a driod for a few months so still new to them, phone is an HTC Hero and was locked to my provider 3. Any ways got board waiting for 2.1 release so followed this guide:

To update, all went well however i have noticed that the signal is none too good, ROM is using 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11 so thought id update it to a different one, problem is that when i boot in the recovery console all i get is a HBOOT menu that doesn't seem to let me do anything.

So Rooted it with Universal Androot and installed Android Terminal Emulator and ran the following cmd:

su [enter] flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img [enter] reboot recovery [enter]

However on pressing enter after entering reboot recovery i get permission
denied or somthing

Any ideas

P.S Whats a good fast ROM to replace 2.1 with?

Hi all and thanks for the welcome will checkout the rooting guide, one question i have ready of people running VR12 ROM and loving it, however i have no idea which ROM that is?
