Root [newbie] error mounting \cache

recently got a secondhand fascinate, rooted with no problems, installed latest cwm, and flashed miui (ick). now trying to re-wipe again to install cm7 gives me numerous errors about being unable to mount \cache as well as just about everything else.

any suggestions?

This whole process is a lot more involved than on the eris...

steps to solve:

full factory restore with ed05
[ROM][ODIN][FACTORY][ED05] VzW full factory froyo restore with radio and kernel - xda-developers

manual root with adb:

flash clockworkmod:

and cyanogen 7 but using this rom:

and then remembering to use the reboot-recovery instead of 3-finger recovery to install gapps as described in this thread:
