Well i get my new Desire on Wednesday and to be honest i'm a bit too excited really, if that is possible!

I currently have an E71 so am really new to Android and it's workings. I've read quite a bit about this but still need some advice. I don't have a facebook account or any social networking memberships and use Hotmail for my email. Do i need to change any of that?

What else do i need to know/do for when i get the phone.

    Thanks Neil

you probably need to get yourself a gmail address though, even if its just to register it to the phone (i seriously recommend you consider moving completely over to gmail, but if not thats ok)

I do have a Gmail account but don't use it. How easy will it be to transfer over from hotmail? Regarding contacts do you recommend setting up a twitter account and facebook?

I believe you can set googlemail up to fwd your hotmail emails to the phone, but I haven't got hotmail, so havent tried this myself.

but I also recommend using gmail, as it makes syncing all your mail, calendars, etc etc so simple.

Regarding syncing up, I don't use google at all for anything and only use hotmail for email. What does syncing up do? You mention calenders but what info do you put on that and what is etc?

    Thanks Neil

I know 2.2 is exciting but some of us haven't even got the phone yet!

Also regarding google contacts do you have to have the phone before you can set it up?
