    Hi guys,

Ive recently bought a Hero phone, i purchased it from carphonewarehouse on an orange contract. The handset itself is unbranded, my question is, which software update shall i download from the HTC website? Does the Orange software update imporve any functionality on the Orange network? or shall I just download the HTC update and avoid any nasty Orange GUI?

    many thanks!!

As far as I've heard, the Orange update is exactly the same as the HTC one, except for a few Orange branding updates.

Your question should actually be, "Do I need to update?" ;)

Check the build number (under Settings - About phone). If it's 2.73.xx.x then you have the most recent update already.

    Yup.

"Hell yeah!" to both. The 2.xx.xxx.x update vastly improves the UI performance, making it far more responsive.

One tip... the update you want will have the same third numeric string as your current one i.e 2.73.xxx.
