No need for NFC or any personal smart-devices, you can just grin and pay your restaurant bills, etc.

Redefining the term “happy meal”, fast food fanatics in China now just need to flash their smiles to earn their dinner.
Alibaba’s Ant Financial has teamed up with KFC in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou to debut its news “smile to pay” service.

Only in China of course. :thumbsupdroid:

Only in China. Frankly, I wouldn't want to use my face as payment. That feels like a big brother 1984 privacy issue... But then again, this is China. What can I say? (I hope they're not watching me.)

It's easier to smile while paying than after dining at KFC in my opinion.

And KFC(Kentucky Fried Cat) is a pay before you eat restaurant, rather than pay after you eat

The school I live and work at uses facial recognition technology for campus security. Things like turnstiles with facial recognition at main gate, and to the classroom, office, and dorm buildings. So I'm rather used to it now, and is a part of everyday life for me.

Talking about big brother 1984 things, did you know that The Walt Disney Company has been recording and using fingerprints for over 10 years now? Everyone who enters a Disney World resort must have their fingerprints scanned.

Having been an Annual Passholder for what I believe to be twice in the last ten years, I am fully aware and have experience with that personally. There is no way out of it, I guess.

I have used those Disney fingerprint scanners at Shanghai and Hong Kong Disney parks, and I now know their real purpose, to stop people cheating with the season passes. But they did give me thoughts of big brother 1984, and chilling effects. Especially as the only other organization that's taken an interest in recording my fingerprints is the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC, and have to use similar scanners to the Disney ones every-time I pass through Beijing Airport.

Does The Walt Disney Company give law enforcement and other govt TLAs access to their fingerprint database?
