Help Nexus 10 - Physical Keyboard On???

I've had my Nexus 10 a couple of weeks now, and I am in love... except for one thing. Every once in a while, the keyboard won't show up. In the upper left hand corner, a little icon that is a letter A shows up, and when I open the menu, it says "Select Keyboard Layout". This does nothing to make the keyboard appear. I installed Swype and now when that happens (when the keyboard won't appear), a little keyboard icon shows up and asks me to select my input method - it has Google Voice and Swype as an option, and an extra option that says "Physical Keyboard" with a toggle that is set to on. When I toggle it off, the Swype keyboard will then appear.

Can someone tell me why my Nexus appears to think there's a physical keyboard? How do I turn it off?

Do you have a physical keyboard the tablet may have connected to? Maybe a Bluetooth one including any for another tablet or PC or even some games consoles.

Nope, I don't own a physical keyboard. I do have a Bluetooth foot pedal to turn pages in my sheet music app. Could it be confusing that with a keyboard?
