Nexus 4 Verizon edition

I went into my local AT&T store today in an attempt to make small talk and pick up an application. I asked if the man working had a case for the Nexus 4 and pulled it out of my pocket. He proceeded to tell me that it is a Verizon phone and that he couldn't help me. I insisted that I was running through AT&T's towers using Straight Talk. He then tells me that that's a Verizon company and that I couldn't possibly be using AT&T's service. After a little more heated back and forth I find out he is the manager. Oops.

Still walked out with an application. :smokingsomb:

I think I may be a little overqualified. Should have it in the bag.

EDIT: Some of the continued conversation involved me having to explain the difference between GSM and CDMA. I also had to explain that the Verizon Nexus phone he was thinking of was the Galaxy Nexus and that I had the Nexus 4. He never did give in and insisted I was a Verizon user until I left. Either he is the wrong guy for the job or I just got trolled by a manager.

Sounds pretty typical of a manager to me - they 'know' about managing, they don't often know about the technical stuff as that's handled by the people they manage :D

I love the sense of satisfaction of leaving a phone/tech shop knowing that I've educated the salesperson more than they've educated me.

Good luck, I hope your application is successful. :)

i usually make surprised face when salesman starts to explain or talk... Like im 100% clueless and he or she 100% right.

I hate the fact people mistake my N4 for a GN. Also when they try telling you as if you know nothing of the phone. And when you explain to them, all you get is a "cool" or "that's nice".

I have been told by metro CS before that VZ was the only carrier with LTE, said thank you for your time and hung up.

Good luck on the application.

Same thing with my mom, she keeps pestering me into coming back on the family plan and insisting I bring my nexus 4... I've told her 8 times now that it wouldn't work and its not compatible -_-

Ugh, hearing about this makes me sick every time. :banghead:

I told my GF this (she works for AT&T mobility), and she laughed her ass off.

Went into Best Buy last night on my quest for a leather holster that will fit my N4 + Bumper. The guys there were not very helpful...they had one generic holster that did not fit....then told me to try the Verizon store, lol. I just left....I didn't feel like arguing with someone in a dead end job about the merits of GSM over CDMA.

On a somewhat related note: Anybody know of a good leather holster that fits with the bumper?

I have one of these.

Black Horizontal Executive Textured Leatherette Holster Case with Fixed Belt Clip for LG Google Nexus 4 Android Smartphone (E960) + SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage Wristband:Amazon:Cell Phones & Accessories

Should fit with the bumper. I use a rubber/plastic 2 piece case on my n4 & it fits in holster.

I remember selling phones at BestBuy. There was one other salesman that had some decent level of knowledge for the general public, one other guy that actually flashed ROMs on his phone, and me. I was the only one that could really help anyone that was having any issues with their phone. Usually, if anyone came in asking any remotely intelligent sounding questions they would just have me handle it as to not embarrass the store by a salesman looking ignorant about what he was trying to sell...

On the plus side, I did manage to impart some knowledge to the other sales people in the mobile department in the few months I worked there. Sad part was some people didn't even care or want to learn anything about what they were selling.
