Anyone else experiencing a slight delay when making calls? I notice when I place a call it takes my phone anywhere from 3-10 seconds to actually connect and dial the number?? Somethimes I actually look at my phone to see if the call is actually going through. Not a huge issue but curious if it's my device or a nexus issue. My friend also experiences the same issue with his Nexus 5.

You are not alone. I have been experiencing the same with the Nexus 5 on T-Mobile.

I am not experiencing this issue. I'm using Sprint.

It's occasionally happened with me over the course of the years. Not N5 specific I think, more likely to be caused by a busy network.

Yeah. It happens to me occasionally, but it's not a constant thing. The most I ever had to wait was about 5 seconds for the call to connect. No big deal though.

Do you use Google Voice? I'm on Sprint and have Voice integrated with my N5, and I have the same issue. I've always figured it had to do with handing off the calls to Voice, but it may just be a device issue. My N5 typically takes at least 15 seconds to connect any call regardless of my signal.

That's a network delay you're experiencing. There's nothing about the phone that would cause a delay. T-Mobile in my area is excellent yet my wife's iPhone 5S does the same thing. My Nexus 5 on AT&T doesn't. It's no big deal, just a characteristic that's all.

Yeah I actually think its a Nexus 5 characteristic. My wife's G2 does not do it and my friends Nexus 5 also does it.

It might be a network delay as your N5 jumps over from a non-voice band to a voice band? I know my current phone will pop off LTE down to HSPA+ to make phone calls, and i expect my N5 will as well once it gets here (but I don't know if t-mo is doing voLTE yet)

I have AT&T and this happens. I thought it was their network. Hopefully an update will take care of it.

Yeah, at this point i am inclined to think it's an at&t thing, or at least definitely a thing on at&t

It's not AT&T unless Vodafone are the same company.
Just be glad you can make a call when you choose and accept the lag.I can't get my piece of **** to even connect.

I am on AT&T GoPhone and have always got a delay when placing calls. When I first got the phone I did not realize this and actually hung up and retried the numbers.

As others have said, that is the only thing that really bugs me about this handset :)

I really think this is just a thing when the phone switches from LTE (usually not used for voice calls) over to HSPA/HSPA+ (usually used for voice calls)

I just changed sim cards. Removed the T-Mobile sim from my Nexus 5, & swapped it with the AT&T sim from my Note 3 just to see if I can replicate the delay users here are reporting.

No change, both of these two networks operate just fine with my Nexus 5, no delays whatsoever. Several of my counterparts at work have Nexus 5's as well, none of us have any delays.

I am on T-Mobile and experience the delay. I'm in the Northeast.

I know some one in the Midwest on Sprint and he also has the delay with his N5.

Do you have TMO? Seems that most of the same issues with call delays are TMO related. I have MetroPCS, but Im on the TMO LTE metwork and I too have the delays.....

My previous phone took literally 30+ seconds to acknowledge that I had told it to call someone. The 5 second delay on the N5/T-Mo is definitely bearable for me:)
