Has anyone one had any luck in finding a way around casting your phone to a roku TV?

There used to be a way to root and enable cast, but IIRC they even shut that down. Google forces Chromecast or nothing for casting. It's probably the worst thing they did for Nexus.

What you mean they strictly want people to use Google cast for Nexus users because it does work on my wife's Note 4 to cast to roku

Yes, if you have a Nexus 5X or 6P you have to use a Chromecast device. It's stupid.

They're lying to you. It was an active decision to disable it (Miracast). There used to be an easy solution via root to just enable it, but they even took that away. They have been aware ever since the Nexus 5X was released. Miracast works fine on my Nexus 5.

I'd love for Google to prove me wrong, but many internet threads (including Nexus product support) say otherwise.
