Help Nexus 7 Batter Draining so fast :c

Hey guys.. I bought this cool tablet 2 days ago, and I have been using it for.. gaming xD, like you wouldn't hehe
But yeah, I charge it until it's on 100% of battery and then I use it all day
but it totally doesn't get the 9 hours of batter life
I just get about 4 hours or so, not full for gaming, I just download games open them once and then pile them over a folder and just use them whenever I feel like to
I updated to the latest version yesterday please help :|

EDIT: I have the display on the lowest possible, and sound off, just wi-fi I even turned NFC off

I kinda noticed my post wasn't clear lol, I wrote it on my laptop and I was in a hurry..
ok I updated to the latest software, and after that the battery is draining so fast, even when the N7 it's off
I used it for gaming over 2 hours, and it went from 100% to 30%
which I think it's dumb..
any advices?

Gaming of any sort is going to be a drain on the battery. It's also relatively new by the sounds of things? I tend to find it takes a couple of weeks before batteries actually perform as you'd expect them too so I wouldn't say it's doing that badly at the moment.

How fast does the battery drain when you're not using it?

100% in the morning and about 49% at night without using it, I did that test today

Yeah, that is a bit on the high side. In the battery screen, what does it say is eating the most battery?

That is not normal. Mine is at 36% after 1 day and 1hour usage and there is only 5% idle (sleep). And I have my screen on maximum brightness because of my bad eyes.

sounds like there are some apps running in the background using the battery, I see 10% used in a couple of hours of web surfing and can easily play a movie for 2 hours and use maybe 25% max.

When idle, my tablet used only 2% of the battery over 10 hours. This thing lasts forever in sleep mode. I always leave wifi on too. I dont think ive turned it off once since ive owned it. I can only get like 6 hours screen on time though. Sometimes a little less maybe.

Sounds like a problem with the update. Clear your cache partitions if you can. If you can't, you could try waiting it out, it might clear itself up. From reports I've read, factory reset is the quick solution but can be cumbersome.

Well, I've heard the solution was the factory reset, but before that let me clear some things up
Screen it's on 68% of battery usage (and I have the brightness all low)
after that it's google services with 5%
apptoide with 2%
and some other like android system with 2% and 2 other services with also 2% of battery

I'm having the same issue of fast battery drain on my new 32gb Nexus 7 running 4.2.1

Is this down to any known culprit apps, the update itself, or enabling another user? I assume all Nexus 7's suffer this and not just 32gb?

SOME nexus 7 have this problem after the update. Proven method is a factory reset but I believe in the past these things could be fixed by wiping your cache and dalvik cache.

Mine has been draining quickly as well ever since the 4.2 update. I've noticed that if I charge it with any other micro-USB charger from a wall socket that it trickle charges and it's a known fact that trickle charges aren't very good for the battery.

Are you using the OEM cord and charger?

Don't update to the latest version. I updated my 8gb Nexus to 4.2 and noticed the battery drained faster than it had at 4.1.2. So when I bought my 32gb, I left it at 4.1.2. It annoys me every few minutes to update, but I just keep pressing "later". Also, 6 hours of on screen time is about average that I get, and probably 4 with gaming. So I'd say that's about normal.

If you're not doing anything CPU intensive the battery usage will be dominated by the screen brightness. I have the brightness turned down very low because I mostly use the N7 to read books indoors, and I get around 10% battery life per hour i.e. 10 hours on a single charge. My niece, who plays video games at a high screen brightness, can hose the battery in three to four hours!

I need the high setting of the screen because of my poor eyesight and I get about 4 to 5 hours. I watch a lot of on-line videos and play around with the maps. And when I type, I use a bluetooth keyboard and attach a mouse to the OTG cable.

So with this kind of usage I find the 4 to 5 hours acceptable.
