I've been recently looking at the Nexus 9 since it's Google's latest Nexus tablet and so for I've kept up on them but the middling reviews had me worried considering the $399 price tag.

I began looking for alternatives and seen the Nvidia Shield Tablet which almost matches it spec for spec (I could care less about the ridiculous and unnecessarily high screen res on the 9) but has the Tegra Zone stuff and is $100 less.

    Any impressions or ideas here?

Shield is a great tablet and ultimately the faster gaming device as the lower display resolution means it will perform better.

The Nexus 9 has a faster CPU but games are not CPU limited, they haven't been for a while.

Also as you said you get the Tegra zone apps, the controller and also nvidias cover/stand is pretty good on the shield.

Oh, also as a bonus it's widescreen and features console mode, just plug into your TV with HDMI and use it as an Android console.

Did I mention it also has an sdcard slot and a stylus?
