So my contract is coming up with Verizon in about a week or so. And I know this has probably been asked a kazillion times already...

My initial thought was to upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus as it is the next best thing. But then I've heard a lot of good things about the GSII. My fiancee has Sprint so I can just as easy go with that option at the end of my contract. Although, I'm not 100% sold on Sprint though. And then as much as I hate Motorola, the Razr doesn't look half bad.

I did check out the GSII this past weekend and it seemed too large for me though. And I think the Nexus is going to be as big or bigger! I might be able to get deal with that if the phone is worth it.

Are there any other great phones out there that I'm missing? I currently have a HTC Inc. rooted w/Cyanogen. This phone has been one the best phones that I've owned. But I know it's time has about past. So I don't want to keep it forever.

Any insight, advice would be appreciated!

The Galaxy S II is the smallest phone out of the three.

Razr is thin but other dimensions are bigger, Galaxy Nexus is the biggest.

Do you still want to consider these three phones? :p

Well, I want a newer, better phone. I would prefer it not be a book, but I could probably get over the size if it's amazing enough.

So heres the deal, the Nexus is taller than the GS2 but thats about it. It has a better version of PURE Android, fully optimized AND is on Verizon. You are on an OG Incredible so I'm guessing you're unlimited on data. Verizon has the best network in the US. I would rock an OG Razr over a GS2 anyday if it meant giving up unlimited data on VZW.

I actually chose the SGS2 but that's just the phone itself. I wouldn't leave VZW and LTE for a phone. I'm still irked that the SGS2 didn't come to VZW with LTE.

So my runner up would be the Gnex.

Well my other thought was maybe to purchase a SGS2 elsewhere and have it activated on Verizon. But #1, I don't know if that's even possible. #2, I would loose my $100 credit and another $100 if I can talk them into it for the Nexus like the posting on the front phandroid page.

Not sure if that's possible to do but if it were it wouldn't work with VZW LTE which is such a waste for the SGSII.

    It isn't possible.

I like VZW LTE too much to suggest jumping to Sprint. If you want to root/rom I think the nexus will offer the most support for both of those so I voted Nexus, whenever it gets released ;)

Well I think verizon just made up my mind for me!

I'm due for the new every 2 in a week and was previously told that I would still get the $100 credit. So I was thinking I might be able to talk to them about using that plus the $100 that is on the front page.

NOPE! She said that I'm only eligible for $50 in a week and the $100 deal doesn't apply to me.

So even though I love the network, unless I somehow get a helluva deal between now and April (according to her is when my contract is actually up) I'll be switching over to Sprint.

Yeah that $100 credit is region based and it seems almost random as to who can get it, by April you will more than likely be able to get a better phone than any you listed above :D

Yeah, but I don't want to wait until April! Besides, I won't get any more than $50 towards the phone at that time either. I thought I was grandfathered in...guess not.

I prefer the Galaxy S II. But since Verizon does not carry it, the Galaxy Nexus becomes my choice. I won't buy anything from Motorola, so their products are not even on my radar.

You don't need Vzw's $100 credit. Buy your phone elsewhere. I'm sure you'll find a good deal on the razr within the coming weeks.

Good news everybody! I've decided on the Nexus...and even better, I got Verizon to agree to the $100 credit! $199 Nexus, here I come!

Long story longer, here's what happened:

It started out in the end of 2008, I renewed my contract and picked up the Omnia. That phone sucked and I had a bunch of problems with it. It took a year, but I was finally fed up and got it replaced with the Moto Droid in the end of 2009. Again, that phone sucked. Had so many problems, had it replaced about a half dozen times and finally ended up getting it switched for the Inc sometime in 2010. I think it was around July or August. This phone has worked great for me.

But according to the verizon rep, my actual renewal is in April of 2012, and on the 20th of this month is when I can do the early upgrade with no fees or penalties.

I thought I still had the one grandfathered $100 credit this time and after that I would be on the new scheme. And when I talked to someone a few months ago, I'm positive that's what they told me.

Looking over the dates and looking over my notes I knew something wasn't jiving here. So I called Verizon up and spoke with a very helpful lady. Turns out that when they replaced one of my crappy moto droids in April 2010, they also renewed my contract.

I remember that day actually. I went into the store and insisted they give me a brand new phone instead of the refurbs they had been giving me. This was droid #4, so I wasn't playing around anymore. So when they gave me the brand new phone, apparently that reset the clock on my contract. Hence the contract being up in April. After a little bit of back and forth, she finally agreed to give me the $100 credit towards the new Nexus!

    So in the end, yay!

I should have known it was too good to be true. Yet again Verizon has changed their mind. I'm tired of the lies. I'm tired of the dishonesty. They can shove the Galaxy Nexus up their @$$'s! I'm going to Sprint!

    :(

I'm sorry, ned. I can only assume that you called today to order your nexus and they wouldn't honor the $100 credit like the previous rep did. Like I said before, you don't need VZW's $100. If you are eligibile for an upgrade (not an early upgrade) in their system, then you can get your phone somewhere else. If your heart is set on a Gnex and don't plan on returning it, I would give let'stalk.com a try. I think they have a deal for the Gnex that can make the price go down to $179.99.

I think you still have time on your contract anyways so you could always wait. I'm sure deals like the one above would pop up throughout the following days and months.

    See you around.

Not sure if you can make a worse decision. Verizon LTE and the fact you have unlimited data makes any phone with LTE better than any phone on sprint period.

I would not give up my unlimited data for anything.

If 50 dollars is what your gripe is about, its 50 freaking dollars for a TWO YEAR INVESTMENT. Over the course of 2 years thats .068 cents a day on a better, faster network. Plus Sprint will probably go bankrupt within the next two years, but that isn't very relevant, but may speak to its inferiority to other leading carriers...

You are correct. The numbers are one thing. But I, for one, am tired of being lied to. We pay these companies. We pay their salaries. We deserve to be respected. We deserve not to be lied to or mislead. It's not money at this point, it's the principal.

I feel your pain. I have blown up in Verizon stores multiple times, but oh well, life isn't always fair.

Plus I wouldn't be surprised that they pulled that on you BECAUSE of your unlimited data plan...I agree, F Verizon.

Their LTE is just so fast...
