General Nexus S was stolen, just picked up GS2. Any guides on how transition quickly?

Wasn't planning on upgrading this soon, but given my Nexus S got nicked (at an IKEA of all places) I'll try to stay positive about getting a GS2!

I was very happy with 2.3.4 and basic Android, so much so that I almost hesitated on not getting the GS2, but that seemed like a wasted given the major spec bump of the GS2 and the low price differential.

So, to get back to how things were with my Nexus S, is my only answer to root? I would like to keep any of the cool features Samsung has added (i.e., turning the phone over to silence, etc).

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to make the switch from the Nexus S to the GS2 would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, to get a more vanilla android experience on SGS2, you'll need to root.

    There are instructions here:
    [ROM + Guide]Official i9100 KE7/KE8/KF1/KF3/KF4/KF3/KG2 download and Root Guide. - xda-developers

2.3.4 for SGS2 is supposedly to be (hopefully :p ) right around the corner.
