Looking through my downloads and to my surprise a update for NFL Mobile. I thought about what was said about not being able to watch live games after Sept 1st if you installed the app after July 19th. Well my original app was still letting me watch NFL network so I was hesitant to upgrade thinking I would lose that ability since I got my phone on the july 26th. I said what the hell and upgraded (you know we tech heads gotta have the latest version no matter the cost ). I still have the ability to watch live NFL network and I can see the NFL Redzone and also the Saints and Vikings game on NBC option and it looks like I will be able to watch both. Called VZ customer service to make sure I'm not getting charged and they said no I have it free till the end of the year. Guess VZ keep their word on the X having the app for free! Im happy cause I work on the 9th and Ill be able to watch the game in the office. Im gonna make my coworker with his Iphone 4 jealous. EDIT: Its not free the VZ CSR lied to me, Im not surprised! VZ wrong for promoting a free app and right b4 the season charging $10.
I downloaded the update just because I was hoping it was the update that would enable live audio that wasn't available during the preseason, but if I still get video for free that is cool. Vcast video quality sucks anyways so free is the only way I would ever watch it.
now how do you know if you get it free? Wouldn't you have to accept some kinda charges or something if you wern't? i ordered my phone at launch but had to get a replacement phone i guess around 5 days later.
+1 for the vikes. and why does video on V cast suck so bad? my neighbor just got the EVO and the video was real nice.
+2 on the vikes! vcast quality sucks so bad, because they degrade the resolution to lower the amount of bandwidth it uses, and to minimize buffering over the evdo network. although, vcast has some cool stuff that make it worth it some of the time. like, when they had every world cup game available (which it was free during that time anyway), and all of the NFL games they will have this season. if i am not home to watch the stuff, i'd rather have low quality streaming on my phone than nothing at all.
i agree^^. i would rather have something then nothing, was just curios why the video was bad. so thanks for the info... 2 days 13 hours 45 minutes till kick off
I wish I would have read this thread before I purchased the $10 a month Vcast package. If it's true that the streaming video is still free for DX owners once the season starts then I'm definitely going to cancel my subscription.
i remember reading on the Verizon website that. once the season starts it will NOT be free..so im just waiting to see.
Not sure if any of you DX owners noticed it yet but mines no longer free. After the new update few days ago, it was still working. Now when I open up the app, I'm getting a prompted msg to subscribe to Vcast. This sucks!
I just downloaded NFL mobile from the market and installed today and it was working. The NFL network replay games were working this morning for me.
Yep now I got the message goes to show you that VZ customers service have no idea what they are talking about.
I went to use the app today which then told me I had to upgrade, didn't have another option so I did and now I have to pay for vcast to watch it. **** that
I installed before 7/22 but then my dx broke and I had to get a replacement.. Now I have to pay?!? What a joke!
How will you listen to the Live Audio? Do you go to schedule and just click on a game then it will have an audio option? I dont see anything that has audio option YET.
how do you know if you have to pay?? if i go to the app and press Live. i get videos but never got a prompt.
Mine is still working as well without paying. It is kinda cool to have this, but I would never pay for this service. Video quality is very poor at best.
I just tired mine as well and I was able to go watch the NFL network with no problems and was not asked to get V-Cast. It shows that I will also have the NFL Red Zone on Sunday and the Thursday night game as well. Not that I will use this too much as I will hopefully be home in front of my little bit bigger TV, but is a great app to have if I have to go somewhere.
I am pretty sure that is what you do. During the preseason if you clicked on a game in the schedule you would get a pop up message that said live audio would be available once the regular season started so I am guessing that is his you will do it. I am going to test it this weekend before I need it so that I will know his to use it when I do need it
Last night (9/7) at home I fired it up on my X and for the first time it started telling me I needed to subscribe to Vcast. Today at work it's back to working no problem. Something very strange going on here...
