So I've been looking at the Switch and it looks pretty interesting to me. Having a young family I think it could be great fun.

There is one concern tho. The lack of promotional detail on how it looks and runs on a TV! Even the trailer for that 1, 2 game pack feature the unit running in tablet mode using the kick stand - which to me is odd!

I know the core speed will increase when docked and a new boost mode has been added increasing the clock speed. And maybe some rumblings about the gfx looking rough around the edges on the TV as compared to the tablet.

Also a possible issue with one of the controller's loosing sync...

But all in I like the idea behind this console. Time will tell once the unit ships tho.

Maybe. We have an NES and NES classic, Ouya and Wii U but, the Switch does intrigue me a little. But yeah there's not a ton of promotion so.. just unsure.

I've never been a Nintendo person, my wife was tho so she is interested. Closest I've been to Nintendo was the Wii, which was great fun at the time for the family games.

This one has me intrigued too due to the more main stream games that may come out, mixed with the whole kids games elements.

If the new Zelda game turns out to be as good as the previews promise, I may well have to get one, eventually. Otherwise, I'm not actually too fussed.

That is the game that is drawing me in ATM. Love a good RPG.. Some of the hands-on reviews are meh tho.. saying the controls feel disjointed at is was designed for the Wii U interface IE 2 screens?? Not sure on that tho.

Would love to see the unit in action featuring Zelda.

I'll see how it turns out. Might be a better machine than the Wii U, which did come across as a little half-baked, with its satellite tablet style controller.

Indeed, I need to see more mainstream style games to jump in. I'm not talking COD, just something that's not a Mario running/jumping/driving around.

Thinking about it, I guess it's not a surprise that some games will be tablet only when you hear some mobile devs are jumping in.

Depends how it goes in 2017....if it looks like a viable platform in November, I might think about one for Christmas...

And therein lies the problem for Nintendo. If the majority of players sit on the fence waiting to see.. the devs that are also sitting on the fence or just porting old games onto the switch will pull out and the console will go the way of the U.

Oh dear. Dead pixel issues, and screen scratching. Not a great start Nintendo!

Indeed, some issues. I've not heard of screen scratches, more scratching to the bezel of the switch if you're not careful docking the unit. Clearly they need some soft material within the dock to stop these scratches.

Lots of issues with Blue screens of death and green screens - which can be fixed with a power down of the unit. (Green screen only)

And of course the disconnect of the joy con is still an issue.

There also seems to be performance issues with playing Zelda on the Switch unit itself when things get a bit busy. And sadly the performance is lacking when docked also.. yikes, these are BIG issues. More so than the above teething issues.

Let's see how Nintendo respond, according to some reports it is the fastest selling Nintendo of all time. (Pinch of salt needed) :p

Lol It would seem Nintendo have their work cut of for them! Fingers crossed for speedy fixes for most of the issues..

The major concern is the unit struggling "out of the box" with its only major release! If the switch cannot handle Zelda what hope is there for other mainstream games??

Personally I'm not interested in Mario style games, I want family entertainment and some mainstream stuff for me as a causul gamer. If the switch cannot deliver on these 2 fronts it is not the console for our home.

Family entertainment is also why we buy Nintendo gear (amongst other consoles) :). But for me, quality has always been a big strong point for Nintendo, and their games have a very polished and professional feel to them. Which is why I'm surprised at this latest turn of events. It's most unlike them to release with such quality issues. They may have missed the mark with some of their ideas in the past, but quality wise, they have a great record.

Not touching a Nintendo switch until no more heroes 3 is out and a copy of it is in my hands.

I bought a 3ds at launch because Nintendo promised saints row on 3ds and we never got it. Not falling for that again. And Nintendo can keep its 2 hour battery life iPad on the shelf until then. "But it says 6 hours..." It sure as hell won't be lasting that long after a year; I guarantee you that.

What irks me is that I already expecting Nintendo to kill off the 3ds in favor of this stupid tablet thing that was designed to compete with the PS Vita. A handheld that was dead on arrival and all through the point when Sony itself gave up on it. Yet Nintendo chose to compete with that than look at what would work outside of Japan.

They're not replacing the dead pixel issue under warranty either apparently.

At least not ATM, depends how much traction/number of users with the issue there are. Never underestimate the power of the press or Twitter as the case maybe. :p

In the UK the best place to buy would be Amazon as they have an almost open returns policy, so if not under Nintendo as least Amazon could help. Not to mention the 14 days returns policy.

It would appear Nintendo have finally fixed the left joy-con issue:

I'd say if anyone is interested in Zelda go for it. I bought a switch and zelda and I've easily gotten my "movie" value out it. (Cost of a movie ticket / 90 minutes)

I just hate to sit it down somewhere and leave it behind, totally forget about it until like a few days or so, I did somehow adalesence brewed up with the SNES, Gameboy family too, but I just do not care as much these days...

To be honest, I don't understand why people nowadays needs nintendo switch, it is a little bit dumb for me. If you want to remember your childhood and to play Super Mario, Sonic or Pokemon Ranger, than go into the garage, find old box with games and there should be an old Nintendo DS which can offer you the same emotions for free. Personally I found mine accidentally in the garage and I tried to connect it to my TV. I was really impressed that it is still working and pretty good, still no glitches.
