HTC, was supposed to announce their 5" phablet yesterday (Sept 19th, 2012). Doesn't sound like they did. Or did I not spot the news? Anyone?

Was hoping to see if HTC would put out a 1080p 5" andrioid phone to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 (my 1st choice as my next phone). LG's 5" 4:3 ratio display phone is BUTT UGLY!! And there's no place to store the pen. Whooops!! And it looks cheap. Like a knockoff phone poorly made by a few 12 year old's.

"Supposed to"? Really? They just said they were making an announcement never what type of device it would be.

    Here is what happened:

That is a CNET article, not from HTC. If you'd like to follow HTC, might I suggest you subscribe to the HTC blog, YouTube channel, Twitter for your country. You can also follow the HTC forum on this very site. Doing this will keep you informed.

Your being a little rude. Its obvious that HTC never officially stated anything about it. All the op asked was a simple question as to whether or not the information on a rumor was true or not, and whether or not it slipped by him or not.

As things stand it's obvious HTC didn't announce it yesterday. The news would be all over major smartphone review sites and on Twitter. No mention. So it was a rumor. Guess I'll be buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. That or the S3. But the 5.5" screen size is one of the major deciding factors for me. So I guess it won't be the S3. :)

There is still supposed to be a 5" HTC phone in "the works".

Just because the date was wrong doesn't mean its a phantom device

Really? I didn't hear this. I truly hope you're right. I would like to have another choice of a "phablet" phone besides the Samsung Galaxy Note 2...which I think is a great phone if you're looking for a phone with a 5" plus screen size.

I won't be buying till next March 2013. So there's time for me. And HTC. Or any other manufacturer willing to put out a "phablet" and challenge Samsung. How about....cough, COUGH...Apple? :)

Not that Samsung has much competition right now besides LG...but Samsung's implemented everything right. More so with the Note 2. Again...I really hope HTC can challenge Samsung.

    Let's go HTC!! Motorola even...

And if the One X 5 is indeed confirmed I hope they release it this year. love to read the reviews on this phone.

5" really isn't that much of a stretch from 4.8". But any extra display space matters. I just hope they don't keep the red banding on the side and on the ring around the camera lens. Hope to see an all black model.

As it is, I'll consider it being a 5" screen but why not make another 5.5" model like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Another phablet that includes a well implemented pen/software...with a spot to store the pen in the phone.

I am not being rude. I offered a suggestion as to how he/she could stay informed on HTC offerings and products.

This forum is about sharing. I could have just said, "no" and left it at that. Instead I took the time to offer suggestions on how he/she may follow up on a brand he/she appears to have interest in.

I would rather give a person the tools to navigate the forum, then just giving a blanket answer.

5.5" is probably too big for a phone but it is the perfect size for a digital notepad. But only if there's a good stylus and app support.
