    hi,
    I have an M9+ Amlogic S905 64bit Quad-core Android 5.1 tv box.
I have files on an external usb hard drive. there is no audio with all mkv and avi files which have attached codec, when they are played using the default android movie player.
however they are fine if played through kodi.
I would like to get them working using the movie player.
    Can anyone suggest a solution?

whats your default player? On our devices the player that works great is VLC. You can get that through the play store. Hope this helps.

Have you tried MoliPlayer? It offers software or hardware decoding.

What did you use to encode the videos with? Try re-endcoding using a diffetent container.

Kodi has the ability to transcode a variety of audio streams, this is probably why you can play in in Kodi but not in the movie player. You could try to sideload the moliplayer app if you want to try that route.
