Help No home screen

My display after I do the little across thing to get to the home screen is black with just the notifications strip across the top. When I hit the menu key the keyboard comes up. When I hit the home key the browser comes up. What I cannot get to come up is the home screen. I have done a factory reset. That didn't help. Any ideas on how to fix it?
