Magnetic Secure Transmission, (MST), is a contactless payment solution that emulates the magstripe terminals still used by many credit card readers in the U.S.

The bad news is that it will not be available to U.S. users on the S21 series or on future releases.

However, strangely enough, some other countries will still be able to use the MST technology as this article from xda developers explains...

Samsung kills MST: the US Galaxy S21 won’t support Samsung Pay’s best payment method

The U.K, Ireland, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia and India are among those that will continue to feature MST.

That's interesting because I don't think magstripe payments are used in the UK any more, it's all Chip and PIN, or contactless there now isn't it?

Do financial institutions still issue magstripe only credit cards and payment terminals in the US, or are they all chip or RFID now?

    That's true mikedt

In fact, if Samsung had removed it here in the U.K., I doubt many people would have even noticed.

To quote from that link... "Magnetic Secure Transmission, is a contactless payment solution that emulates the magstripe terminals still used by many credit card readers in the U.S. It’s one of the features that made Samsung Pay the best mobile payment service in the U.S.". So I guess it is a big deal in the States still.
