Just got done having a total meltdown that netflix came to the HTC Incredible (my former phone) and not the Thunderbolt. Netflix is a big reason I sold my Samsung Galaxy tab and bought an ipad. Buying an ipad made me feel dirty but it delivers.

Any other crybabies like me out there?

Now I have to clean up the mess from the meltdown and it's all Netflix fault. WAAAAAAA!

I am a bit upset about it. I understand the Incredible 2, since it just came out recently...but the TB has been out a while now and has the required Snapdragon processor. I am a bit perturbed by this. Wonder if there will be a working APK out there....

I'm working on getting the APK now. Should be able to test to see if it works soon.

It appears that someone on xda did test it. Didn't work. Let us know if you have a different result.

I would also like to know, good or bad. And Karuk, do you have a link to the XDA thread? Wouldn't mind following it.

    Official Netflix apk - xda-developers

XDA, I don't have a decent data connection and I am at work so I can't test right now. XDA will likely crack it to work if it can be, if they don't a warez site likely will. I don't understand why they would include the inc but not the tb

Funny, I load it..it starts to stream. I actually hear sound, then it asks for DRM permission and goes back to the playlist. In theory, someone at XDA should be able to fix this tiny issue =P I would think...

PS I got the apk off of the XDA thread

Netflix is working to get the app on other devices.

Not so easy... this is the main reason why we've been waiting for netflix to even get us the app.

That's not half as pathetic as the fact that Verizon's own service app, My Verizon, is still not available for the Thunderbolt. Pathetic is not the word.

Looks like they're focusing on Qualcomm processors. Do any of those phones share the same processor as the Thunderbolt.

I'm in similar boat, wanted Xoom, but got iPad2 for Netflix. Don't want to do same for a phone now. I blame Netflix and the lack of competition, if they had real competition there woudl be Andoird player by now. They have no incentive, my same pet peeve with them for their lack of 1080p and 5.1 on streaming, why should they, only Amazon offers that and charges by the rental. I keep wishing Amazon or Google woudl jump into subscription stremaing to force Netflix to compete.

Are there any 4G LTE phones that has the app? Maybe there is a problem with the 4G side of it?

Both the EVO and incredible have same chip as the thunderbolt

Yes, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GhZ processor, if I'm not mistaken.

I think something's up...because it doesn't support the Inc 2, does it? Just the original Incredible? That seems pretty silly.

I loaded up the .apk and it was doing the DRM issues as well. Maybe it's more of an DRM issue than actual raw specs?

The evo and the thunderbolt are nearly identical in prowess. So it's not hardware.

It's the same frequency and brand name, but are you sure it's the exact same model? My friend seemed to think that the idiosyncrasies of even minor architecture changes could be an issue.

So, DRM most likely means that it's just a configuration/verification issue? I found a quote online from a Netflix representative that they would be "aggressive" in their verification and approval of new phones.

Evo and Incredible use the 8650. Thunderbolt uses a 8655. They are different chips.
