Really? I can't get a little vibration when I receive an email/text message when the phone is set to vibrate mode? I'm the kind of guy who likes to set his phone to vibrate, put it in his pocket, and only (or mostly) take it out when a notification arrives.

    A little bit baffling.

I'm having this same issue as well. Is there a fix for this?

I did a factory reset yesterday and it worked for the rest of the day. Today, it stopped working again. Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, had to download the Sound Manager app to make it work, also had the random scroll to the left on the home screen happen yesterday and a random reboot today. This is also my 2nd phone, not good.

Good to know this is more widespread (I guess). I'm having the random scrolling home screens as well. Second phone? Gosh not cool. I wonder if I should still call Verizon and get a replacement.

Thanks for the tip about Sound Manager app. Was it easy to setup?

Very easy when you open the app just hit Menu and choose Vibrate Settings, for me I have "Vibrate only when silent" and it works perfectly. The scrolling and reboot issues only happened once and I hope I won't have to deal with it again. The first phone seemed to work fine but had dust under the screen, this one no dust but other issues. I hope an OTA will fix some of these glitches, to me it just seems like the phone was rushed or something because it definitely has its share of problems.

I DL'd Sound Manager for this reason also and all is well now. I've even deleted the program since then and all vibes still work (Gmail, pop3 mail, call and text).

Only thing I'd like to figure out is whether it's possible to set EVERYTHING to a long vibe. SMS long vibe works due to a separate setting in SMS Popup that takes charge. Everything else does short little vibes which I can barely feel.

To get it to work without the Sound Manager app, just be sure to have vibration checked in the specific app's settings. For example, pull up the Messages app and go to settings, and check vibrate when a message is received.

Now, when you receive messages, you will get a vibration plus whatever sound you have enabled for notifications. And when you set the phone to vibrate mode, it will still vibrate but simply no longer make the sounds.

Strange implementation, but that's how it works.

Thanks for the heads up. I just downloaded it and tried it. It worked the first few times but then stopped working. I powered off and phone and back on and still not working.

I then noticed if I hit the volume key on the left hand side to bring it to vibrate mode (which it was already in vibrate mode anyway) its working again.

Seems like a bug with these phones. Unless mine has issues, along with home screen scrolling.

@ ttamnedlog already did that before posting here, it just simply does not vibrate on text messages or emails. If you call the phone it will vibrate though.

I just tested it by sending myself an email. It vibrated the standard two short vibrations. I am in Vibrate Only mode.

I haven't tested with SMS, but it should also work as I described.

Coincidentally, I just got an email from a friend that DIDN'T vibrate. At least I didn't notice it. Odd... Maybe it's hit and miss?

Just got another email while the phone was in my hand that didn't vibrate. Although I was in the GMail app at the time, responding to my friend's email. Either I'm 1 for 3, or the last email didn't notify me since I was within the Gmail app.

Wow, this phone seems rife with different problems but no one seems to want to admit to it.

Hey people, try this out. Does it make a difference which sound profile is currently enabled when you set the vibrate notification options (in Android, not Sound Manager)? I used the Sound Manager trick to get vibration working, but then uninstalled it. I've found that you have to enable vibrate notifications while you're currently using the sound profile for which you want to use them. In other words, enabling vibrate notifications while in Sound On mode won't do any good if you want the phone to vibrate while you're in Vibrate Only mode. This is what I've found in my time playing around with the Incredible. Make sense?

When in doubt, as mentioned, Sound Manager set to "Vibrate only when silent" works like a charm.
