    Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for my wife, and we love it.

However, there is no option in the "Location and Security" area for anything related to the Lock Screen. I am trying to set a Lock Screen Pin for her, but there is simply no options where they should be.

I am wondering if this is because this is a Story Display model and somehow they disabled the ability to set a Screen Lock Pin?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Jamie

On the Tab 10.1 (at least on my WiFi only version), go to Settings / Location and Security / Configure lock screen. You can set a password, a pin, or a pattern.

**Edit - STORE Display model, not Story. =\

Here are the options I have when I go to:

    Menu>Settings>Location and Security:
My Location : Use wireless,Use GPS,Use location for Google
Encryption: Encrypt tablet (which I can't do without screen lock pin)
    Find my mobile: Remote Controls
    Passwords: Visible Passwords (check box)
Device Admin.: Device Administrators (there are none)
Credential Storage: Use credentials, Install from USB, Set Password, Clear Storage

And thats it. Nothing that even comes close to Screen Lock.

Thanks for the link, Stigy, and the Directions, Meyerweb, but I do not have the option for "Configure Screen Lock" for some strange reason...

Yep, looks like they took out the entire Lock screen section for the display model (it should appear between My location and Encryption).

Display models can be weird. I saw one in my Best Buy that had vanilla Honeycomb 3.2 without TouchWiz

Actually, I'm not surprised they remove the lock screen option from a store display model. That's prevents people from coming in to the store, setting a password, and walking out, preventing other customers from using the device.

Maybe there's an app in the Android market that will provide a locking capability? Or try Samsung support, and see if there's a way to flash a standard ROM image.

Yeah, that's what I figured and it made sense to me as well. I'll give them a call and see if there is a way to enable it.

Thanks for the feedback, at least I know it was something I was doing incorrectly! =)

    Thanks again everyone!

No problem. If you didn't know AF has an All Things Root section for each device (you can find it above), but here is a link for you. Galaxy Tab 10.1 - All Things Root - Android Forums

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
