Hi there, my first post here.

I am on my second week with a new S7 Edge.
Migrating from iPhone 6 after eight years in Apple's ecosystem.
I have to admit I like both iOS and Android, and will be using them both considering that my family members and I we all have a bunch of Macbooks, iPhones and iPads.

Enough blah blah, here is my question.

I have a reocurring bug: pressing "Recent Apps" button I get "No recently used apps" message. Restart fixes it for a while, and then it comes back. Google search showed that it's a known bug.

Anybody found a fix for this one?

    Thanks

I came here to find an answer to that very question. It makes it difficult to close Pokemon Go and restart it, since the game has no proper exit function. Also, hitting the key by accident, while this bug is active, makes you have to reopen whatever app you were in at the time. It's very inconvenient.

I don't have the bug, but are you on the latest updates for the phone?

Yup, I am also on the latest update. Most recent Samsung update came, i believe, two days ago 2016-07-27.

As far as I notice on my SGS7 Edge, this bug can be triggered by enabling bluetooth, but also at other random times as well. Three-four times a day on average.

I'm using Samsung J7 for Boost mobile and have been experiencing this bug since using "Okay Google" commands.

Btw, for anyone who really needs this reverted.. Go to Settings > Backup and reset > Reset settings and it will be done (at least on my device, results may vary for others). However, whenever I use "Okay Google" it starts happening again. This may be useful in determining the root cause.

Resetting your settings will remove any custom ringtones and notifications you set as well as Wi-Fi hotspot settings (other custom settings may be affected too). So keep that in mind.

Thanks for the workaround. Although I do use "Ok Google" commands when driving quite a lot. So i'm out of luck i guess. Hopefuly Samsung (ir is it Google?) will come out with a bug fix for this one.

No problem, I think "downgrading" the Google app may help as well (I started getting this error shortly after updating my Google app), but haven't tested yet and not sure just how possible that is even.

I'll keep an eye out here for more solutions or post if I find any myself :)

Seems like enabling "Now cards" within settings of the Google app and restarting my phone resolved the issue (or go to: Settings > Google > Search & Now > Now cards > Show cards = On; then restart phone).

After restarting, you can disable Now cards and restart your phone again (restart may not be needed here). I did this last night and it seems to still be working, even after several restarts and uses of "Okay Google".

I think the recent app issue has to do with a bug related to them treating your "recent apps" as Google cards. This is probably just as much Samsung related since Android is open source and modified by the manufactures using it.

    My update to this issue.

After latest Samsung updates, the bug seems to have dissapeared. Good.
Interesting that it took a couple of restarts or smth else for this bug to stop occuring completely.
