No Ringtone

My phone won't ring. When I try to get to ringtones I get the message " the application settings (process com.andriod.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Force close. I've taken out the battery four times. Nothing works. How do I get my ringtone back?

If you tell us which handset you have, we may be able to point you in the right direction. Is it just your ringtone you're having a problem with or do you get that message when you try to amend any settings?
