Got my GB update @ 630am EST everything running smooth except I am not getting voicemail notifications on the top bar. Is anyone else having that problem ?

It is a bug, it has been present on all the leaks. Another thread suggested call VZW and they may be able to do something on their end. Or get VVM or use google voice for voicemail.

Upgrade in progress. Visual Voice Mail (VVM) is working normally? If so... I can live without the notification in the status bar as long as the counter on the VVM icon is working.

I run AOSP roms that have never had VM notifications and VVM doesn't work at all, I get a text from VZW when I get a VM that says something along the lines of "You have a new VVM please reinstall app"

I just called vzw support and got to a level 2 tech. They're aware of the bug, and the temp fix is that they credited my account for visual voice mail until it's fixed (I wasn't a vvm subscriber previously)

So if you're not getting vmail indications in the status bar, call VZW and ask for VVM for free.

Just got off phone with Verizon Technical Support. Evidently there is a ticket already open for the voice mail system and notifications. We navigated my voice mail and the option to turn on or off notifications is missing completely. Seems to be a voice mail server issue, but it coincided with the GB update???

I emailed HTC support asking how soon they will be sending out an OTA patch for the software error in their OTA that went out yesterday. I let them know the developer community already came out with a fix for their software error for those who root their phones, and that I was curious if HTC would also be fixing their broken voicemail notificaion software error this week for those of us who haven't rooted our phones also...haha! I'll post HTC's response here as soon as I receive it just for giggles...

Just received this via email from HTC support:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding voicemail notifications after the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update for the HTC Thunderbolt device from Verizon Wireless.

We are investigating this issue with a view to addressing it via a software update. Currently I have no information regarding the estimated availability date of this or other future updates to the device.

This has been present in every GB build HTC has leaked for the bolt. They haven't come up with a fix. There may be a fix for those with root access, if this is the case then HTC can kang the root fix and hopefully get it fixed in another OTA update

On mine, I subscribe to VZW VVM. I get notifications in the status bar that I have a new VVM, but no counter or anything on my VM icons. So, it's half-there, at least for me.

Just tell HTC to contact erishasnobattery @ teambamf.net. He knows the phone better than they do:cool:

You know, on a whim, I did the same. I dialed into my voicemail, and checked the Message Waiting Indicator status. It had reverted to "Off". So, turned it on, and testing...

So, on stock Sense, I now have the counter back on my VM icon. Once listened, cleared out. Redialed, left new message, works as intended. So part of it may just be that some apps need to get updated to be fully functional. (my missed call indicator doesn't clear out when I open my Go Dialer, but it does if I use the stock Phone app).

in my case at least, then, it's working. BUT....only on the stock UI. Go Launcher / Go SMS, etc...the notifications aren't working correctly.

But yeah, double-check your Message Waiting Indicator to make sure it is On. (Dial into Voicemail. Most areas, it'll be 4 for Personal Options, and it's #1 in the next menu)

    Hi,
I am new to andorid (just switched from blackberry). I have an LG spectrum on Verizon because I wanted the 4G network. I have noticed that I don't have a new voicemail icon in the staus bar. Is there a way to fix this. I belive my phone has gingerbread.
    Thanks,
    Tina

Hi, I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you but you'd probably have better luck asking this question in the Spectrum forum. Here's the link... LG Spectrum - Android Forums

Thanks you. I was able to find the LG Spectrum forum and ask my question there
