Anyone find out why there is a AIM/MSN/WLM messenger in the G1's native app but not in the Nexus one?

Or am I not looking the right place? (Just got it yesterday)

Googling an answer to that will just return negative reviews, not answers.

I left my unlocked iphone for this guy and I love it already.

    Got that far.

But is there an explanation why my friend's G1 will chat in MSN/AIM in the native app and my Nexus One will not?

I am not 100% sure... but I think the native IM app found in the G1 is provided by T-Mobile. Since the Nexus is unlocked, it does not have carrier software built in.
