This thread is for all the scaredy cats, like me!

I want my droid to go through its right of passage the old fashioned way!

:D

The "force" method is literally exactly how the phone applies the update OTA too, this is just a different way of commanding the install to start, there's no difference at all.

I know, I know...

There is no way to brick it by doing this. You simply put update.zip into the root of your SD card and run it through the recovery menu. Zero risk. I mean, actually, there might be some if you pull the battery while it's updating or something, but why would you do that!? :)

EDIT: No... even then I bet you could get into the recovery menu and flash the factory OS onto it... not that I'm gonna try it. :p

You guys are just a bunch of wusses. Go for it, live a little dangerously just once in your life, you hack virgins!

it's litteraly the exact same thing the phone goes through when it gets the OTA update, downloads the file and runs it lol.

I still have the plastic on the back of my screen, too!

I didn't take the plastic off the back aswell. But I did the update, because I want the phone to perform like it is supposed too. I was worried about it too, but all it is is download, move from downloads folder to anywhere on the sdcard, just not in a folder. Are first every one was saying put in in the root on the sdcard
I assumed that I had to root my phone. Then I red on another site that they are just referring to the sdcard, and not rooting the phone...hope this helps

Oh, I know I don't have to root it.

Maybe I'll wait for the other 800,000 of us to get 2.02 on Friday! :p

I don't know why you would wait. It was so easy, it took me 5 min tops. Then again aside from the new unlock screen and camera wait time I am having a hard time figuring out what was changed.

I am sensing an "Invasion of the Update Snatchers" going on here.

Is this the "Girls with Droid" thread.
