I just love some of the crap from AT&T. I just got my backflip today and the 1st thing I noticed was that I was unable to install non-market apps and more imporntantly that Google Maps was not in the Market:mad:.

    Well I found this:
    www.appbrain.com

It will download apps that are missing from market to your phone and install them!!! So now I have Google Maps, google voice and so on. Hope this helps you guys as well.

To make things easier, download AppBrain Market Sync to install stuff faster

[edit] Please note that this will not install apps that don't work on 1.5 like google goggles

{edit2} ok so I'm blind or something, google maps was there prior to appbrain install. However I still cannot find it in Market, so this is a workaround for some things

Google Maps was on my Backflip by default - just not on the home screen. AppBrain is just another browser for the Android Market, there's nothing there that isn't on the Market by default.

Go to the widget, or main screen, or I don't know what its called, but the part where you can look at everything on the phone. Its located in there with some google and other random stuff.

Thanks for this link. I will check it out. I ditched my iPhone 3G for a backflip. Overall, I love it. Then I was like, hey, where's the Amazon MP3 app. And, hey, where's this app? Is ATT blocking stuff? Not cool!

From what I've read, some of those apps aren't going to show up because the backflip is currently 1.5 OS but once they port in the 2.1, if and when they do should I say, then some of those other apps will be downloadable
