i am new to androids, from palmos, and i want to replace my old calendar....

    here's what i need:

. LOCAL calendar. i do not want it to sync with anything, just run itself.

. AUDIBLE, REPEATING alarms for calendar events. (like, it should make a noise every few minutes until dismissed).

. biweekly repeating event setup and such would be nice, as would the ability to make notes and such, but really the above two features are what i'm finding it hard to live without....

    thanks for any pointers!

What phone do you have? Coz I can do all of those on my stock calendar app.

Oh....a carrier branded device. Not sure if AT&T made changes, since I am using an international device.

Just open the calendar app and add an event. Scrolling down, you will see an option labeled "calendar", this will let you choose between making the event in your Google calendar, or "My Calendar", which is the offline non-syncing calendar. There's an option there as well for "alarm" and "repeat".

ok i guess my question is a little different. i want to be able to set an alarm to happen BEFORE the event -- five minutes before, five days before, whatever.

reminding me after it should have happened is much less useful to me!

any apps do this....? or am i doing something wrong with calendar?

    thanks,

On my phone, there's an option to set when to alarm in the stock calendar (on time, 5min before, 15minbefore, 1hr before, 1 day before, customize). Its right above the option for repeat.

i see it, but then the appointment i just saved seems to disappear :/ i suspect it is not clear (or i am not clear) on whether it's using a local or google calendar.

i've tried to order pimlical but am having trouble getting a download link.

sigh. thanks for trying to help!
