I just got a DInc yesterday and I wanted to get rid of some of the un necessary apps, vz navigator, amazon music, etc. I was wondering how I would go about doing this. I tryed to root my phone yesterday and something happened and luckily was able to get a replacement. What steps would I take or what thread would I look at to get rid of them. I believe I am running Froyo 2.2....

I have unrevoked 3.3 on my comp. Drivers installed, Pretty much it is plug and let it do work right? Any possibilities of Brick doing that?

There's always a possibility of problems but I've never heard of a brick from Unrevoked other than an Evo or two in the extreme early days which is completely irrelevant now.

In fact, I've only heard of a few bricks when flashing and I'm fairly confident most of those were radios or roms that were incompatible with the Inc. I've followed root issues on this forum and others since the day the Inc was first rooted if that's any consolation. ;)

Thank you very much... I am going to try right now to root. Will let you know how it goes. As far as removing the bloatware or preloaded apps (vz navigator, foot prints etc.) how do I do that?

First be sure to make a nandroid backup. Critical step. Then you can remove bloat using multiple methods...SDK, Titanium Backup in Chuck Norris mode can wipe anything out (also have a freeze option using Titanium paid version, not sure about free version) which doesn't blast them away forever but makes them disappear until you unfreeze them should you ever want them back. Yet another option is Root Explorer...navigate to /system/app in read/write (R/W) mode and delete unwanted apps.

Again, it's important to make a nandroid backup prior to deleting stuff in case it causes a problem you can't recoup from by any other means (unrecoverable boot loop etc). There are still other options to recover even in that situation but they aren't all that fun for newbs.
