Not able to access GMAIL on Android device

I was accessing my GMAIL account on my cell phone (HTC - Android based)

Last evening I have taken out my SIM card due to some problem. Since then I am not been able to log into my account.

Pre-installed GMAIL application is continuously asking for login password. But while I am entering my usual GMAIL login password (which I used to enter while login through browser) application is not accepting the same and quoting following error message:

Even though this is in completely the wrong place - You need to access settings>applications> then find gmail and clear data. it should then let you enter the new details. If not you will probably need to factory reset and start from scratch.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. I did a search for your problem and honestly I found no great options for you. I know you can do a factory reset and then establish your account again with your phone. I hope there is another way to purge the information stored in your phone regarding your gmail account.
